Do heat pumps actually work in Ontario winters?
Modern cold-climate heat pumps are rated for efficient operation down to –25°C, which covers the vast majority of Southern Ontario winter conditions. For the few days a year that dip lower, hybrid systems automatically switch to gas backup. The technology has changed significantly in the last five years.
Will a heat pump lower my energy bills?
Typically yes, especially when replacing electric baseboards or an older gas furnace. Exact savings depend on your current system, home envelope, and electricity rate. We provide a realistic estimate with the quote based on your actual energy bills.
What rebates are available?
Federal and Ontario programs periodically offer rebates on qualifying heat pump installations — Save on Energy and Enbridge programs in particular have offered substantial incentives in recent years. Programs change frequently. We're not enrolled to file rebate paperwork on your behalf, but we'll point you to programs that may apply and provide the install documentation you'll need.
